‘This is How’ with Yves Schepers (TiR Photographer of the Year 2020)
So great to have our 2020 Photographer of the Year – the fab Yves Schepers – with us today, talking about how he captured each and every one of his 20 Reportage Awards from 2020! Originally broadcast via Facebook Live, TiR members have the exclusive-access to the re-watch – so this is the only place to watch if you missed it live.
Yves shares *so* much in this 1 hour 40 minutes video, about things such as composition, light, his flash setup, the things he’s looking out for, the beauty of the inbetween moments, the equipment he uses, and so much more… a really great watch; thanks so much, Yves!
Podcast Episode 68: This is Ang Waterton
A real pleasure to chat to the fab Ang Waterton for episode 68 of the Podcast today! This is a Podcast from one Cornwall to another, as Ang is based in Cornwall, Canada (whereas I’m in Cornwall in the UK). A brilliant wedding and family photographer, Ang recently won 3 Family Story Awards in a single Collection (on our sister-site, This is Reportage: Family) – something that we talk about on the episode, as well as many other things, including:
her tips for people just starting out as a documentary family photographer, trans-Atlantic relationships, her journey from teacher to photographer, her profound hatred of socks, the importance of taking on legacy work for her clients, our Netflix synopsis game, and so much more…
Podcast Episode 67: This is Richard Skins
The very lovely Richard Skins is my guest on the Podcast this week! Rich was ranked joint-37th in the world on This is Reportage in 2020, with an amazing haul of 5 Reportage Awards and 3 Story Awards won in the year. Join us today as Rich talks all about:
how, ten years ago, he never thought he’d be a photographer (but he’s so glad that he is), something very funny that happened to him at a wedding (and which there is video proof of!), the story behind one of his specific Reportage Awards (which may be my personal favourite ‘Giant Jenga’ capture), tips and advice concerning our Story Awards, thoughts on destination weddings, web design, auto-culling software, and loads more too…
Podcast Episode 66: This is Lisa Hu Chen
Delighted to talk to the fab Lisa Hu Chen for episode 66 today! Lisa was joint 4th in the USA on This is Reportage: Family for 2020, with 5 Reportage Family Awards, and she’s picked up another three since the start of 2021 as well. Not only is she a great photographer, but she’s a superb writer too, and has written some great, inspirational pieces for us. As well as all that, she’s just a delight to talk to! Stick with us today, as Lisa shares all about:
her journey into photography, how she’s invested in herself during the pandemic, her experience of feeling awkward in front of the camera and how she makes sure to make her own clients feel at ease, the story behind one of her specific Reportage Family Awards, 80’s and 90’s films, composing your frames intentionally, and so much more…
