Blog
Welcome to the This is Reportage blog, where we'll be sharing lots and lots of documentary wedding photography goodness. Check back frequently for the latest features…
This Is How: ‘The Crying Mirror’ by Ash Davenport of Miki Studios
Honoured to have the brilliant Ash Davenport of Miki Studios on the site today to tell us how he got this Reportage Award-winning capture from Collection Two. Ash shares great insights into noticing potential for extreme moments, composition, the importance of a pre-wed to build rapport (and thus capture this intimate moment), and much more. Brilliantly, we also have thoughts about the image from the bride herself. A fantastic read!
This is Now
It’s been another incredibly busy couple of weeks in the wedding world, and we’re thrilled to feature some moments that our TiR members have been capturing recently. Just like the first time we collated some of our members’ current work, we absolutely love seeing the variety of moments captured, and the different ways our members capture them: Tender moments, laugh-out-loud moments, artistic moments, what-on-Earth-is-going-on-there? moments…brilliant, brilliant work.
So, enough of the words; on to the imagery! Here’s a selection of photos captured from recent weddings all over the world from the last few weeks. As always with us, these are documentary captures – no poses; nothing staged: This is Reportage.
This Is How: ‘Pouring On The Dress’ by Eve Dunlop
Honoured to have the fab Eve Dunlop on the site today to take us behind the scenes of this fantastic bridal prep capture of hers. Really great tips on how to immediately put people at ease (a vital skill!), using natural light, shooting at different angles and from the subject’s point of view, composition and more…thanks, Eve!
400 Members!
A little milestone for us today as we welcome our 400th member! It’s humbling that in only eight months since launching, so many wonderful photographers from all over the world have joined us, showcasing their brilliant documentary work, and re-enforcing the power and importance of capturing real moments.
This Is How: ‘The Wedding Singer’ by Anthony Lyons
It’s always fascinating to hear how our TiR members capture their fantastic images, and today is no exception, as we have the fab Anthony Lyons telling us all! Great insights on his lens of choice for this particular capture – and why it’s more than OK to use a zoom! – utilising the available light to his advantage, his thought process about he wanted the final image to look, and detail on his post-production (including a before/after comparison).
