Collection Five Winners Announced
Ah, there’s nothing quite like Awards Announcement Day! We’re absolutely thrilled to be able to announce the winners of Collection Five, superbly curated this time by the amazing Steven Herrschaft, Christelle Rall, Lauren Brimhall, Sam Docker and The Framers.

Once again, it was incredibly tough to get an Award, with just the top 3.6% of submissions becoming a Reportage Award (for great individual captures), and the top 3.5% getting a Story Award (for a series of 15 – 20 images from a single wedding, representing world-class coverage, creativity, consistency and storytelling).

Delighted to have the fantastic Portugal-based duo Menino Conhece Menina on the site today to tell us how they captured this brilliant moment that won a Reportage Award back in Collection Four. I really love this piece; great tips and sentiments about going with the flow, curiosity as a wedding photographer’s great tool, composition and more. One of my favourite quotes, too: “If nothing is going on where I am, that means I’m in the wrong place…”. A brilliant piece, thanks so much, both!
This is Storytelling: ‘Nele & Michael’ by Sanne De Block
We’re absolutely delighted to have the brilliant Belgium-based TiR member Sanne De Block on the site today, taking us behind the scenes of her recent Story Award – but not only does Sanne talk in depth about that, she also lets us know how she won a Reportage Award which came from the same wedding; double-documentary goodness! We can’t recommend this post enough, with fantastic insights into working in wet conditions (so wet that one of her cameras stopped working properly – eek! – and how she dealt with the problem), practical advice on how to capture in-between moments, lens and flash info, and much more…
This Is How: ‘The Shadow Catchers’ by Alex Miller
Excited to have the fab Alex Miller with us today, telling us how on earth he managed to capture this bouquet-catching capture – an image which very deservedly won a Reportage Award in Collection Two. Alex shares some great insights into the circumstances which led him to attempt (and totally, nail, Alex!) such a shot, observation, composition and context, editing, and some really interesting thoughts on working as a solo shooter.
