Up Close
Shooting close and wide is such an effective tool in great documentary wedding photography – not only does it mean you yourself, as the photographer, can ‘feel’ the moments more (and thus anticipate them more), but the resulting images are so much more intimate, too. Here are pieces by our TiR members that specifically talk about getting close:
This Is How: ‘Man Vs Peacock’ by Matt Parry
In the twenty-fourth of our regular series of ‘This is How…’ we’re excited to welcome the fab Matt Parry to tell us all about this iconic capture of his. So much personality in this image! Great insights into how street photography has had a massive effect on his work (“…watching, waiting and capturing the ordinary…”), how speed and reaction are so important but how slowing down can be just as vital, composition, character, getting close and more…
This Is How: ‘Bridesmaid Mischief’ by Pete Farrell
In the sixth of our regular series of ‘This Is How…’, Manchester-based photographer Pete Farrell of Pixies in the Cellar, tells us how he got this fun bridal prep image.
This Is How: ‘Anna and her Dad’ by Sam Gibson
In the fourth of our regular series of ‘This Is How…’, Bristol-based photographer Sam Gibson tells us how he got this awesome double-laugh.
