Camera Settings
The low-down nitty gritty! Here are some ‘This is How’ pieces by our TiR members that all contain the specific camera settings they used for each wedding photography capture:
This is Storytelling: ‘Targeted Chaos’ by Andrew Keher
Only the top 4% of submissions became Reportage Story Awards in Collection One, and we’re thrilled to have one of the winners – the brilliant Andrew Keher – take us behind the scenes of his award. Reportage Story Awards are given to the very best series of images (between 15 – 20) from a single wedding, and represent the pinnacle of storytelling and consistently excellent coverage. Andrew’s insights are invaluable here, including great tips on getting really close with a 24mm, finding his own style, embracing the ‘targeted chaos’ of weddings, overcoming the challenges of low light, and much more…thanks, Andrew!
This Is How: ‘Overwhelmed by Gratitude’ by Anji Martin of Potok’s World Photography
For our thirty-third ‘This is How…’ piece, it’s an honour to have the fab US-based TiR member Anji Martin of Potok’s World Photography on the site, taking us behind the scenes of this emotional capture. As well as sharing her before and after edit, Anji also shares some supporting images, as well as great insights into blending into the background in order to capture raw emotion, the practical advantages of shooting as a husband-and-wife team, lens choice, composition, storytelling and more…The particular story of this wedding, and moment, is also incredibly moving. Thanks so much for sharing, Anji!
This Is How: ‘The Twin Cam Shot’ by Mark Capilitan
It’s an honour to have the fab Ireland-based TiR member Mark Capilitan on the site today, telling us how he captured this unique image – something I’m sure Mark’s background in Formula 1 photography really came in useful for! In the thirty-second of our ‘This is How…’ series, Mark gives us great insights into capturing unique images of the things that mean a lot to a couple (such as their car, here), pre-visualisation, great technical tips on achieving panning images, capturing motion and a sense of speed, and more…thanks so much, Mark!
This Is How: ‘Cinderella’ by Dan Morris
Excited to have the fantastic Dan Morris on the site today for the twenty-sixth of our regular series of ‘This is How…’ posts. Today, Dan is taking us behind the scenes of his recent Reportage Award, including great insights on capturing elements of the day that the bride and groom may not normally see, patience and observation, supporting images, and his before/after edit. Thanks so much, Dan!
This Is How: ‘Champagne Shower’ by Rahul Khona
In the twenty-third of our regular series of documentary wedding photography guides it’s an honour to have the brilliant Rahul Khona on the site, telling us all about this brilliant champagne shower capture of his. Brilliant tips and insights such as staying until the end, shooting not only for the couple but for future generations, an in-depth discussion of his flash setup, and much more. He also shows us his RAW images from the series of shots he captured here, along with the final, edited image. Thanks so much Rahul!
