About Douglas

Helios Images is the wedding + family brand of my documentary based photography. Back in 2002 I was asked to shoot solo in Maine entirely natural like I did for the daily newspaper, and it snowballed from there.

At every wedding I like to take a collective step back and smile at the unique gathering of community. Next door or around the world, I whirl my cameras while feeling like an old family friend. Near 900 weddings shot from Big Sur to Bangkok, I've been listed as one of the top 30 talents in the world by the WPJA as well as being represented here on This Is Reportage. Published by Style Me Pretty, Brides, NPR, Le Magnifique, Huffpost, Rock n' Roll Bride, and others.

As an athlete + adventurer, I love jumping into the action - be it running for a mile alongside a bride and groom's pedicab, or wearing a full-body wetsuit and fins in the chilly Northern California waters for a couple's surfing engagement.
